// KIP Overview
The Kundalia Irrigation Project lifts water from the Kundalia Reservoir on the Kalisindh River and distributes it through a pressurized underground pipeline network. The project irrigates 1,40,475 hectares of cultivable land across the Rajgarh and Agar Malwa districts, providing a reliable water supply to more than 400 villages through a modern pressurized irrigation system.
The Kundalia project is the pilot site for India's first SEBAL-based precision irrigation system — combining Sentinel-2 satellite data (10m resolution), weather stations and soil water balance modelling to compute actual evapotranspiration at field level and auto-generate dynamic irrigation schedules.
Water is drawn from the Kundalia reservoir via an intake sump and approach channel, pressurised through high-capacity VT pumps with VFD control, transported via rising main to three distribution chambers (DC-1, DC-2A, DC-2B), and then distributed via an extensive MS + HDPE underground pipe network to farm-level outlets (1–2.5 Ha).
Each ~300 Ha unit is remotely managed via sensor-equipped Remote Management Systems; ~30 Ha sub-units are controlled by Outlet Management Systems with IoT fuzzy logic controllers.
